Install Pics

In this site you will get to see a few ideas on how to install a fully functional computer, into your car. I normally get one of two replies at this point, one is 'why would you want to do that?', or the other is 'I cannot even work a normal radio when I drive, I would cause an accident trying to use a pc!'. My answer to the first is, 'why would someone pay $5k-$8k extra for something half as useful when buying a new car?', answer to the 2nd, 'Do the world a favor, turn in your license. Imagine trying to juggle a map in downtown Boston. I would much rather set my CarPC's GPS, and let it guide me.'

The basic concept: Gather an old pc p3-500 or better. I used a newer P4 641(single core) 3.2Ghz, Gigabyte G1i975x dual pci-e 16x board, 1Gb DDR2, 2x500Gb SATA2 (RAID0), 2x40Gb PATA (RAID1), Nvidia GeForce 7300GT SLI, 350W 12Vdc Power supply, HDTV Tuner card, 1000mw WiFi adapter with +12db antenna, SiRF Star GPS,Bluetooth 2.0, PhoneControl.net's Cell phone controlling/hands free (will even read text messages!), Mp3Car.com's USB->XM Direct adapter, ATI Remote Wonder, HDA (High Definition Audio) 7.1 Adapter, and a customized Lilliput 8.4" 800x600 touchscreen. I an extremest, I build things big. It's all in a 5U Rackmount Server case!! HAHAHA! I don't yet have any place to put a cd, or dvd, so leave your discs at home. All my music, right there in a menu, all my movies, music videos, everything, right there in a touch friendly menu! Not even Bentley allows you to store a video on an internal HDD.
